Residential Loft - Spring 2019

The purpose of this project was to design a residential loft space within an existing building located in downtown London Ontario. The old Featherbone building is a very old building that most Londoners would recognize and has a significant connection to the city's heritage. The loft was required to be approximately 700 Sq. Ft. and had to be located anywhere on the top floor of the building.

 

Within this project it was important to do proper research to create an amazing design that was based on evidence and help keep the integrity of the buildings heritage intact. It was important to do a site visit to get a full understanding of the space and how to incorporate contemporary design features with historic features. A large inspiration for this design was the modern/industrial design style that is very popular right now.
