McCormick Home: Design for Dementia - Fall 2020
The purpose of this project was to re-configure the design and layout of the dementia wing that currently exists at McCormick Home in London Ontario. This project was a team project because of the extensive research that had to be put into this space and how to create a more welcoming, safe, and enabling space for the residents, staff, and visitors.
Within this project it was important to do extensive research on designing for dementia as well as healthcare in general. Designing for dementia is a very difficult task because of the realities that the residents live through on a daily basis. We were tasked with re-configuring the two corridors to organize them into two 16 room residences so they had equal residents living on both sides. It was also our job to focus on the shared spaces and to re-design them to become more optimal for all users of the space.

Below, are examples of the work that we produced for this project. Floor plans, interior sections, an exit plan, a poster, but most of the work can all be viewed through the attached PDFs. Each image also has a caption explaining it further and highlights what program was used to create that piece of work and has a PDF link where applicable for better viewing.
